OBD-DEV is an ESP32-based OBD-II development interface built around the Macchina A0 platform and compatible with A0 firmware.
It connects directly to the vehicle's OBD-II port and provides CAN communication together with USB-C, WiFi and Bluetooth connectivity. It's suitable for CAN monitoring, diagnostics, data logging, telemetry, reverse engineering and custom automotive projects.
A key improvement over a basic A0-style interface is the selectable AUTO / MANUAL programming mode. In AUTO mode, ESP32 programming works automatically through the USB interface. In MANUAL mode, automatic boot control is disabled and dedicated RESET and BOOT buttons give you full control during programming and debugging.
OBD-DEV is designed as a practical development tool rather than just a basic OBD scanner — it combines the familiar A0 ecosystem with additional hardware features that make programming, debugging and everyday automotive development easier.
